We've spent some time building our Business Development team over recent months, with a particular focus on further developing our broker relationships and we're delighted with everything we have achieved on this front so far.

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR GROUP CEO, STEWART KAY
I can't quite believe we're already into Q2 of 2018! 2017 was great for our business and we were delighted with how we started 2018. We worked hard to achieve this and will continue to move forward with our customers and our people at the centre of everything we do.
We've had a really busy start to the year as we work towards a number of customer driven objectives, including maintaining our brilliant service levels and really cementing our industry leading position. Keeping our customers safe and compliant will always be our main priority and we've got the best people helping us achieve this.
Our customer facing team is focused on ensuring we understand the needs of our customers even before they do so please keep talking to us as we continue to partner with you over the coming months.
INTRODUCING CHRIS SHERRINGTON
Contributing to the great start we've had to 2018 was the addition of Chris Sherrington to our fantastic team. Chris joined our company in January as Customer Manager and is focused on working with a number of our Head Office based teams to deliver the very best service for our customers.
“We’re always excited to see new people join our team, Chris has already brought so much to our company with his focus on people, his enthusiasm and his experience of our industry,” said Stewart Kay, Group CEO.
Chris joins us with significant experience from the Engineering Inspections industry having spent a number of years with HSB Engineering Insurance. He values the importance of working closely with customers to ensure we are able to meet their changing needs as we continue to grow and develop as a business.
“It’s great to be a part of something that’s both so new and exciting and also has such a strong heritage. The British Engineering Services team is made up of so many enthusiastic and passionate people and I’m delighted to be a part of it,” said Chris.

WARREN COMPLETES HIS TEAM
We introduced Warren Bainbridge, our Head of Business Development - Broker and Insurer, in the last issue of Bump Caps and Hard Hats - The Customer Issue and are delighted to share that he has added some new faces to his team since he joined us last year.
Business Development Managers Tom Casey and Sarah Purnell recently started working with the company to support Warren as the team continues to promote the great work being carried out by British Engineering Services. Existing team members Chris Cassidy, Business Development Manager, Julie Ellison, Broker Scheme Manager complete the team, which is focused on building and developing relationships with new and existing broker partners.
Collectively, they have extensive knowledge of our industry built up over many years working with brokers and insurers in our field and each bring an abundance of enthusiasm and passion to their roles.

CONTINUING TO PARTNER WITH THE CTP
Lianne Turley, Recruitment Advisor, recently attended the first Careers Transition Partnership (CTP) employment fair of the year with Andy Kidd, Chief Engineer and John Harris, our North West based Unit Leader. “These events are a great way for us to get the British Engineering Services name out amongst some great potential employees,” she said.
The CTP provides useful and informative support, including careers guidance and training, to those looking to leave the forces as they prepare for the next phase of their life. "We’ve had a lot of success with service leavers over recent years, particularly those with an Engineering background and an interest in moving into an Engineer Surveyor role," said Lianne.
The event took place at the home of Sales Sharks Rugby in Greater Manchester and was attended by hundreds of people coming out of the forces looking for their first full time civilian role. Lianne attended 10 events around the country with a number of her British Engineering Services colleagues last year and plans to do the same throughout 2018. The employment fairs provide a great opportunity to network with some extremely skilled and experienced people and also to answer any questions attendees may have about working for our company.

HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE SPOTLIGHT
David Bibby, our resident Health and Safety expert, started the year with a mammoth tour of the UK attending every one of our January team meetings to carry out valuable Health and Safety training for our Engineer Surveyors.
The training covered a whole host of topics including the importance of near miss reporting, incident management, working at height and even touched on Eco Driving as we continue our efforts to be an environmentally conscious company.

ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE
Matt Cay, one of our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineers, made the trip to Jordan at the end of last year to carry out some essential tests on a huge Ammonia Tank (above) for a Middle East based Phosphate Mining Company. Matt worked alongside other specialist engineers to look for stress corrosion cracking, while also overseeing, auditing and reviewing the documentation produced by the on-site NDT team who were there to complete the magnetic particle, ultrasonic, penetrant and magnetic flux leakage inspections.
Matt was praised for not only getting the job done efficiently, but also for his professional approach while helping complete this important piece of work.

OUR ONGOING FOCUS ON TRAINING
The introduction of our Centralised Training Team last year has been a real success for our business and we're seeing some great results being delivered around the Group.
Developing this even further, Jonathan Barnes, Training and Recruitment Manager, and his team have been working hard to introduce even more new training modules for our people. In the first few weeks of the year we rolled out our very first Fork Lift Truck driver course to a number of Engineer Surveyors and this has been well received, both internally and externally. The team are already looking at what the rest of the year will look like form a training perspective as we continue to work to a thorough and involved cross training plan to make sure we have the best all round team for our customers.
