City of London Corporation

The City of London Corporation has a wide, varied and somewhat challenging portfolio of more than 200 locations – all of which are within a relatively small area.  The sites include everything from concert halls, markets, libraries, police stations, schools and residential buildings.  In line with our mission, the city’s corporate plan specifically requires that “people are safe and feel safe” and we’re delighted to work closely with the team to help bring this to life.

The challenge

Many of the 200 locations covered by this partnership need to be completed within a condensed period of time, making the most of the July and August ‘down time’ period.   This requires careful, long range planning by our local unit leader,  key account manager and diary management team to make sure our engineer surveyors are in the right place at the right time, meeting the needs of our customer.   Clear and regular communication between all parties is key to the success of this relationship.

Our solution

Our key account manager and unit leader work closely with the City of London Corporation team, providing weekly data, highlighting trends, giving advice and ensuring that any potential issues are resolved quickly.  The local team of engineer surveyors is highly responsive and proactive in making sure our customer’s inspections are kept up to date.  We have provided training on our e-report system to help the City’s team fully understand the 21,000 reports produced each year and back this up with technical and legal guidance concerning the inspection process and queries arising from it.  More recently, we introduced our bespoke inspection booking process to the City, giving wider visibility of the planned inspections much earlier than previously, allowing site managers more time to prepare for our visit.
